Joining & Training

Crossover.

Divers qualified by other organisations can have their qualification converted to a SSAC equivalent on joining our club and following a crossover schedule. We welcome trained divers and we will take into account your level of qualification and your experience.

Training.

To start training you have to be a member of both the Club and ScotSAC.

Initial training is conducted in the Gorbals swimming pool on a Monday night from 8pm – 9pm.

Once the pool training is complete, it’s on to the open water! Most training dives will be carried out in Loch Fyne and Loch Long. The pace of the training is determined by factors including:-

•  How quickly you pick up the skills – we won’t force you through any stages.

•  Availability of instructors.

•  Number of trainees.

•  Number of sessions/trips you can attend.

At present we train club members up to Master Diver level.

You don’t need your own diving kit as the club has a selection of diving equipment for use for free throughout your training and for a small hire fee if you wish to continue to use club equipment after you have qualified.
